hi. i am writing for my mother 'cause she hates the computer... anyways, she cannot use synthetic estrogens 'cause they cause problems for her. she has purchased black cohosh thru GNC, the 500 mg type. we were wondering if these work well for estrogen replacement & how close this does is to any synthetic estrogen? also, any other suggestions on a very strong estrogen content herbal? wild yam did not seem to work for her & she wants an herbal that is very close in strength to estradiol or other estrogens. thanks sooooo much! kelli

There is a supplement, Estroven that she can buy. I bought that and Black Cohash but didn't end up using anything. My mom and grandmother bypassed any hormone replacements so I thought that I would too.

black Cohash is a good one though, but not by itself.

It's full of wonderful information, not the least of which are 'peri-zappers' which are natural ways to resolve many perimenopausal symptoms. They sure helped mine! ;)

If searching for an OTC progesterone cream, you need to find one that lists 'micronized progesterone' in the ingredients list. Plain ol' wild yam extracts cannot be absorbed well by the body and are a waste of money.

By the way, I don't think one supplement can hope to combat all the myriad perimenopausal nasties that crop up. IMHO. :D

      best wishes,
