Does anyone know if it is true that if you take a lower dose birth control you are less likely to have side effects? Do low dose birth control pills prevent pregnancy the same way higher ones do?

Your less likely in most cases. I was put on a 'medium' dose pill and had horrible side effects. My doctor switched me to a low low LOW dose pill (P.O.P aka mini pill) and I've had no adverse side effects. Only thing it's done is it causes AF to come far less often.

My doctor informed me it IS somewhat less effective than the higher dose/combo pills...she said mine with 'average' use (Average...not PERFECT)...it's 90% effective...with PERFECT use I think it's more like 95% But I don't quite remember.

Every pill is different though so be sure to read the info and ask your doc questions :)

    • Hi there. There is a really nice pill that worked for me, Allese is what it is called. It is really mellow and there are no funky side effects. Ortho-try-cylin and the deop shot come with side effects that are just plain crazy. Hope that helps.
