hi gals,

i'm looking for some input for those of you who have had (or know about) breast soreness due to birth control. Since starting birth control, my breasts have been very tender and they also feel different. I know that tenderness is a common side effect, but what about a change in how they feel? Mine are much harder than they usually are and much more lumpier feeling on the inside. This is how they used to get right before my period..except now its worse. Also, in certain spots (the underside) they are much more sore than anywhere else. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it normal? Should I expect it to go away soon? I've been on bc for 1.5 months. Thanks for any help!

    • I have been on birth control for nearly 4 years. Since I can remember I have had very lumpy tender breasts. In fact I recently took a trip to see my doctor because I too was having severe soreness under my breasts. He reminded me that most women have what is called fibrocystic breasts, which is lumps in the breast that get bigger around your period. Some women have severe pain while others have none. Cysts usually develop under the breast and on the top. Caffeine has been known to aggravate the cysts, so you may want to cut back. If you do a search on this board for fibrocystic breasts you should find a lot of helpful information. Good Luck and try not to worry!
